Theatre Technician

We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity to support all BOA showcases and productions as part of the Technical Theatre team. We are looking to appoint somebody with previous experience who has ideally carried out a similar role in a working theatre or school environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the performing arts and technical theatre arts, as well as possessing a strong creative background.
We are looking for someone who has :
- Proven experience of live sound mixing, desk programming and temporary installation
- Proven ability to operate and programme lighting control panels to an advanced standard (experience of ETC EOS family and ION series lighting desks is essential)
- Experience in sound design, including choosing specifications for productions is desirable
- Understanding of current design software and ability to effectively interpret plans
- A good working knowledge of fundamental electrical practice and theory (industry recognised qualifications would be an advantage)
- A good working knowledge of health and safety practices, including working at heights
- Experience of production management for shows and showcases
- A specialism and background in sound is desirable

Annual Salary:
- £24,404 (SSP4) to £29,093 (SSP15) *please note that all pay scales are subject to national review for academic year 2025-26
- a local government pension scheme
Holiday and paid leave:
- 24 days' holiday entitlement per academic year plus all bank holidays as paid leave
- Time-of-in-lieu (TOIL) for any overtime
- This role allows the successful candidate to request annual leave during term time, through negotiation
