Following the phenomenal success of The Wizard of Oz in 2024 – which was loved by audiences of all generations, from excited children to nostalgic grandparents – the pressure is on, and we’re rising to the occasion. The Wizard of Oz was praised for its heart, humour, and high-energy performances, with packed houses and standing ovations. It truly brought the BOA magic to Birmingham, and this year’s Cinderella is set to raise the bar even higher.

Once again, we’ll be giving this timeless fairytale a distinctively Brummie twist, with local humour, regional pride, and a few surprises along the way – you might even spot some familiar faces returning to The Old Rep stage!

This Christmas, get ready for a pantomime packed with fairy magic, dazzling costumes, and jaw-dropping special effects as we bring Cinderella to life in a festive spectacular like no other. Expect outrageous characters, hilarious comedy, and plenty of audience participation in a high-energy show guaranteed to have the whole family laughing, cheering, and shouting “it’s behind you!”

Join Cinderella as she dreams of escaping her cruel stepmother and her larger-than-life stepsisters. With a little help from her Fairy Godmother, a sprinkle of sparkling magic, and a carriage ride like no other, she’s whisked away to the royal ball. But with the clock ticking, will she make it back before midnight? Will she leave behind the legendary glass slipper? And will good triumph over evil in true pantomime style?

This isn’t just a pantomime – it’s a full-blown Christmas experience, filled with magical moments, stunning dance routines, unforgettable songs, and the warmth and wonder that only live theatre can bring. Whether you’re young or just young at heart, Cinderella will leave you glowing with festive spirit.

Returning to direct this year’s production is the brilliant Lorna Laidlaw, who captivated audiences with last year’s hit The Wizard of Oz. Lorna is a professional director and actress best known for her roles as Mrs Tembe in Doctors and Aggie in Coronation Street.

Her impressive theatre directing credits include Caribbean Kitchen, Nativity, and She’s Royal, with productions staged at The Drum, Birmingham Rep, and beyond.
